Traditional Russian styles for building a house

Traditional Russian styles for building a house

Return to the origins – this could be called the mass resettlement of residents of megacities outside the city. However, modern country houses and cottages differ significantly from traditional rural houses, first of all – and this is completely natural – in terms of comfort.

Nevertheless, many seek to use the elements of the Russian rural architectural style, especially in the decoration of facades, windows and other elements of building wooden threads. Just like in the old days, the roofs make two-, three or four-sided ones, but they cover the roof with modern materials that often imitate tiles, while peasant huts were most often winged with straw.

Log houses are very popular – they are considered more environmentally friendly and have a special microclimate. The walls are erected from whole, eagerly or allocated logs or timber, including glued (this is the invention of our time). When designing such houses, national traditions of wooden housing are used, their external design is performed in the Russian style, with a large number of wooden carved decor elements, which is especially characteristic of the Vologda style.

The Russian country style, formed in the second half of the 19th century, has not lost its relevance, which is characterized by the presence of a porch and a glazed or open veranda. From there, there is a tradition of sheathing the house with lining or, taking into account modern realities, siding.

It should be noted that the interest of developers in traditional Russian rural architecture began to revive literally one or two decades ago. In the early 90s-2000s, pompous locks with turrets prevailed-a bright example of eclecticism and bad taste. Compared to them, modern house projects look much more organic and stylistically verified.

The use of the best traditions of Russian wooden architecture, in particular, in the general architectural solution of the structure and in the decoration of facades of country houses and cottages, turns each such house into a real work of art.
